If I remember correctly, since it says the two sides are the same that also means to two unknown angles are the same.
180-40=140 140/2=70
70=2x
x=35
70=y-12
y=82

That is an isosceles triangle so the base angles are equal.
The base angles = (180 -40) / 2
EACH base angle = 70 degrees
